The Autism Society of California wants this website to be usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or other assistive technology.
What we have done
- Pages use headings, landmarks and lists so they can be navigated with assistive technology.
- Every page can be used with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline and a link to skip to the main content.
- Text and buttons are designed for strong color contrast, and links are underlined rather than shown by color alone.
- Body text uses Atkinson Hyperlegible, a typeface designed for readability, and the layout adapts when text is enlarged.
- Images have text alternatives. There is no autoplaying video or animation, and motion is reduced for people who ask their device for reduced motion.
